STATEMENT
My early childhood years were spent in Slovenia's beautiful countryside amid sweeping fields, forests and garden surrounding our house. Very early on my senses were hooked on my environment in four seasons, the beauty of color as well as the sounds and smells of nature. All of that has left a profound impact on me and has aided in further development of my character. At the same time I developed an interest in drawing and painting. At first it was playfully the way every child does, but that interest continued to grow. It stayed with me throughout my teenage years when things normally change, even disappear. I discovered that I was very happy reading and being absorbed in my paints and my projects. When we moved to the city, the scenery had changed, but my love for nature and art did not wane, one the contrary, they became my everlasting passions.
As an artist I feel the need to be free to explore, to study and to work without any constraints, therefore, I am not married to any particular style, movement or medium. I love art history and admire work of many artists, but when I return to my studio, I return to myself and to my own work. I feel equally comfortable working in oil, watercolor, pencil and pen and ink. When working on my decorative objects, I almost always use gold leaf and proceed with oils and ink. I feel that if I can paint on paper and canvas, I can paint on every other surface too. And this is what I do, I constantly move from one medium to another. When an artist is disciplined and constantly at work, good things are bound to happen. New ideas are born and transformed into new work that ultimately emerge as something that is unique and part of the artist's being.
