STATEMENT

As an artist who happens to live in a body used to symbolize art, and a person who has studied literature by and about women, I wonder if there might be a visual language that could represent the plethora of women's experiences. Materials such as lace, crushed velvet, and corsets have become parts of a greater whole of both history and canvas. It is not necessary for the viewer to understand the impetus, only to find some resonance in the end result.

BIOGRAPHY

I am one of a select group of individuals to hold a MA in Feminism and the Visual Arts from The University of Leeds in England. I have exhibited my mixed media throughout the United States in venues such as A.I.R. Gallery in NYC and The University of Michigan. My piece, So They Might Figure, received a Best of Mixed Media commendation in 2007 by Manhattan Arts International. Many of my pieces are now in private collections. My work is currently part of a US tour of the collaborative quilt: Women Helping Women, Stitch by Stitch, between members of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art and Rubia.
